Praise In The Storm

While reading my March "Guideposts" (thank you Aunt Susan)...I came across an idea that I had never heard before and so I've been pondering. The story was about a man whose wife had suffered for years with bouts of depression and his boss was giving him advice.

The man's boss suggested that for him to heal, he had to think about the difference between thankfulness and praise. Thankfulness is "us-centered"...when something works out the way we want it to, we are thankful. Praise is "God-centered"...praise is being aware of God in your life right now...NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

This first made me think of one of my favorite songs ever..."Praise You In The Storm", and then made me think of a message of Joyce Meyer's I heard recently about worrying. She shared that worry is simply being afraid that things aren't going to turn out like we want them to...and truly TRUSTING GOD is just the opposite of that. Trusting God is KNOWING that no matter how things turn out, we are children of God and as such we can stand on his promises and know that we will be OK.

I pray that I will begin to Trust and Praise HIM more and worry less.
